Well here's a gin for the brave of heart... This is no "anti-gin", i.e. a gin that isn't. This is an ANTY gin, i.e. a gin made with ants... Yes, you read that correctly. Ants. Created by Cambridge Distillery in partnership with the visionaries of the Copenhagen-based Nordic Food Lab, each bottle of Anty Gin contains the essence of approximately 62 red wood ants. Rich in citrusy-tasting formic acid, these distilled critters are combined with hand-foraged botanicals including juniper, wild wood avens and nettle that complement the sharp citrus notes. Each bottle also comes with a 5cl dropper bottle of pure ant distillate. This is the world's first gin to be made with insects, yet let's remember that insects are eaten the world over and this gin is a great example of how they can be used as a viable source of flavouring...
